What I learned Week 5 in the NFL

Last week I wrote about What have we learned after 4 weeks of NFL football?.   This week I'm going to update those points with facts and figures from week 5

The best team in football is still the...Houston Texans.     I believe they are the most complete and balanced team in the NFL right now.

Right behind them are the 5-0 Atlanta Falcons.  The dirty birds have a high powered offense and boast what is probably the premier wide receiver combo in the league.   Actually make that premier WR-WR-TE combo.

The Arizona Cardinals showed a cinch in the armor.   The defense is still legit, they have a lot of talent.  However their normally average offense is back to playing totally average right now.

Top 5 teams in the NFL
  • Houston Texans
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • San Francisco 49er's
  • Chicago Bears
  • Baltimore Ravens
Worst 5 teams in the NFL
  • Buffalo Bills
  • Oakland Raiders
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Cleveland Browns
I've taken the Saint's off this list.  Even at 1-4 do they really deserve to be in the same company as these other teams?

Top 5 fantasy football players
  • Drew Brees
  • Matt Ryan
  • Robert Griffin III
  • Tom Brady
  • Peyton Manning
Brees claims the top stop and Peyton moves up from #7 to #5, while RGIII moved down from #1 to #3.

The next 5 (6-10)
  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Bears DEF/ST
  • Eli Manning
  • Arian Foster
  • Cam Newton
Aaron Rodgers is now in the Top 10 after failing to land a spot in week 4.  The Bears DEF/ST continues to score like a quarterback...

Top 5 non-quarterback fantasy players
  • Bears DEF/ST
  • Arian Foster
  • Ray Rice
  • Jamaal Charles
  • Stevan Ridley
We have a defense, a few running backs but no WR has graced the Top 5 this week or last.  the closest are A.J. Green and Victor Cruz who are 1 and 2 points behind Ridley respectively.

What is most surprising to you so far in this NFL football season?
